How to make yourself feel valued and understood?
Many people struggle silently for being not recognized for their works or being misunderstood. Their voices are unheard and their presence being unseen. The struggle is real and does a heavy impact on our mental health as well. Everyone wants to be recognized and valued. But before that, ask yourself,
- are you valuing yourself?
- are you prioritizing yourself?
- are you respecting your needs and desires?
The sad truth is many of us don't! When we are not able to respect ourselves, there is no way others could value us!
How to put ourselves first? How to see and hear ourselves?
Let me guide you through this.
SELF-VALIDATION:
Instead of waiting for someone to acknowledge your feelings, start telling yourself: "My feelings matters, My voice matters."
DAILY REFLECTION:
Include journaling to your daily routine. Every night Journal for 5-10 minutes. write
- what did i feel today?
- what do i wish i could tell someone without any hesitation?
CLEAR AND BOLD COMMUNICATION:
Most of the times people don't understand your thoughts, needs, pain or problems until you tell them. Communicate in a clear, polite way with full confidence. Set gentle boundaries about your YESs and NOs. Your clear communication guides others to respond better to you.
CHOOSE SAFE SPACE:
Find at least one person or space where you can be fully yourself. This could be:
- a trusted friend
- an online or offline support group
- a personal diary
The fact of being our authentic self, boosts our self-confidence to be unapologetically ourselves.
BODY LANGUAGE:
Some of us. have our face engraved with the subtitles of our mind voice. Our hesitation, likes, hatred, etc., expresses itself, no matter what we talk or do. This makes the opposite person to doubt our credibility. Small conscious gestures can bring huge differences to us.
- standing/sitting tall and erect, making eye contact while talking or listening
- speaking slowly and calmly without rushing
- owning your space
INNER HEALING:
Our childhood memories and past experiences may have created a deep-rooted pain or few limiting beliefs, communication hurdles within us. Identifying and addressing these issues help us to rise and shine bright in our life. This can be done through inner child meditations, aura strengthening, energy works, practicing affirmations like,
"I am worthy for being heard. My voice is powerful. My opinion matters. I prioritize myself. My thoughts are valid."
These simple practices slowly transform your mindset towards a better you and it makes people to sense and respect your presence, naturally.
Always remember, the more you acknowledge and value yourself, the more the world will mirror that back to you.
would you value and acknowledge yourself, first?
